In order for the effect to become visible, the visitor is expected to move forward using the menu on the screen. In parallel to the narrative in the menu, the warming of the earth is represented by the changing lights reflected on the sphere.

    Visitors control a geothermal heating/cooling system to see how heat is transferred from its source through heat pumps and heat exchangers, and ultimately how a building is heated and supplied with electricity. The heat exchange system and electricity distribution are represented by LED lighting. Visitors change seasons (winter to summer and vice versa) represented on a moving disk (graphic backdrop) that switches the system from heating to cooling (and vice versa) to match seasonal weather conditions.

A small spark starts at the bottom of a pair of “V” shaped electrodes, moves upwards and grows as the gap between the electrodes widens. At the top of the electrodes the spark exits and the cycle repeats.

The display has a welcome screen with instructions for use. The user touches the screen to start. It progresses by following the menu with language selection. With the interface design that visualizes the digital content, the user learns how solar panels produce energy and how this energy is converted into electrical energy with visuals and information texts.
